Meatballs Barbecued Style Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup cracker crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1.2 cup chopped onion
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon liquid smoke
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion

Preparation:

Combine beef, milk, oatmeal, cracker crumbs, eggs, ½ cup onion, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, salt, pepper and chili powder (mixture will be soft). Shape into walnut-size balls. Place meatballs in a 13×9x2 into baking pan.

To make sauce, combine ketchup, brown sugar, liquid smoke, garlic powder and ¼ cup onion. Pour this over the pan of meatballs. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes.

To freeze for later line cookie sheets with waxed paper. Place meatballs in a single layer. Freeze until solid. Store frozen meatballs in freezer bags until ready to cook. Place frozen meatballs in baking pan. Baking at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
